AirCheckTexas Drive a Clean Machine Program

Vehicle Repair and Replacement Assistance

The AirCheckTexas Drive a Clean Machine Program is designed to help vehicle owners comply with vehicle emissions standards by offering financial incentives to repair or replace vehicles, and allows local residents to contribute to the regional air quality solution. If your vehicle is registered in Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, or Tarrant County and your vehicle has failed the state emissions inspection within the past 30 days, you may be eligible for a repair voucher up to $600 toward emissions repair assistance. Also, if your vehicle meets certain requirements, you may be eligible for a replacement voucher up to $3,500 toward a qualifying replacement vehicle. How to Apply for Assistance

Applications may be downloaded for repair or replacement assistance in English and Spanish, or you may complete the online version. Please use the links to the right of this page under APPLICATIONS (How to Apply).

Any version you select, including the online application, must be printed, signed, and submitted to our office for verification. Incomplete applications will be denied, only completed applications will be processed. Applications will be processed in the order they are received. All applicants will receive a response by mail.

*Income documentation may include the following copies:

  • most recent income tax return or W2
  • pay stubs for the last three consecutive months
  • most recent disability or social security annual award letter
  • written, signed statement of unemployment

Additional Program Information

Note for Voucher Recipients

For repair or replacement assistance, a voucher must be presented to a listed participating repair facility or dealership at the time of the emissions repairs or vehicle purchase.

No reimbursements are allowed if emissions repairs or vehicle purchase are made prior to receiving a valid voucher or used at a non-participating facility. The replacement vehicle purchased must follow these requirements. These details are included in the replacement voucher envelope.

As Regional Administrator for the AirCheckTexas Program, the North Central Texas Council of Governments is subject to the Texas Public Information Act. Therefore, some participant information is considered public information and may be disclosed in response to Public Information Act requests.

REPAIR and REPLACEMENT application processing times may vary depending on volume. We ask that you please allow 10 business days for processing from the date received.
