November 11th, 2020 by

Choosing a new vehicle to navigate Frisco’s busy streets can be a daunting task. If you are looking for an SUV that will ensure your passengers are comfortable and safe, look no further than the 2021 Volkswagen Atlas. For the 2021 model year, Atlas has been restylied with a fresh new front fascia and improved technology features. Going on its fourth year of production, the VW Atlas has received an overall 5-star NHTSA crash rating and a good overall IIHS Safety rating. These same ratings apply to the newly introduced Atlas Cross Sport, a smaller two-row variant of the standard three-row Atlas. Volkswagen clearly has a winner in the midsize crossover SUV department. What really makes Atlas stand out are the abundance of safety features included as standard and available as options.

VW Atlas Safety Features and Rating

Atlas Merges Modern Tech With Safety

Volkswagen has implemented loads of technology into the new Atlas to keep you and your passengers safe. Every Atlas comes standard with blind spot monitors and rear traffic alert systems, making sure lane changes are executed in a safe manner. A rearview camera system with a high definition wide lens is also equipped standard. Also standard are six Stability-enhancing Systems, all of which work together to ensure Atlas performs best with whatever road conditions it may face. An Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and a Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA) systems are just a few of the stability enhancing systems found on the VW Atlas.

Volkswagen includes their Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS) on the 2021 Atlas to prevent additional harm to your passengers in case of an accident. In the event of a collision, ICRS will deploy the airbags, turn off the fuel pump, unlock the doors, and activate the hazard lights all simultaneously to help get you and your passengers out of the vehicle safely. The VW Atlas also has a high-strength steel safety cage. With front and rear crumple zones and a rigid safety cage, crash energy is absorbed and forces are distributed away from the driver and passengers. Atlas also has an Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, which reduces the chance of any additional impact by slowing the vehicle after a collision. In the event of a rollover, Atlas has a Rollover Sensor, which will automatically deploy the side airbags if the vehicle senses it is not upright. For even more collision prevention, Atlas has standard Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking.

Volkswagen Atlas is Equipped for Families

The VW Atlas is a perfect vehicle for families always on the move in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. That’s why Atlas makes sure that children will remain just as safe as adult passengers. Atlas has standard LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) found in the rear rows. Every VW Atlas head restraint is height-adjustable and is whiplash optimized, further proving Atlas’s commitment to safety. Atlas has available 4MOTION All-Wheel Drive, providing extra power, braking, stability, and control to the vehicle. Also standard is a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), which alerts at a loss of tire pressure so you know when to add air.
